Job Responsibilities
Under general supervision of the Director of Nursing/Nursing Supervisor, provides professional nursing services during the assigned shift. Provides professional guidance and direction to assigned shift LPN staff. Serves as Center-wide medical/nursing resource on the assigned shift during the absence of other professional nursing personnel. Serves as Center Float Nurse for medication administration. Assists with the development and implementation of behavioral programs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Requires graduation from an approved nursing education program resulting in an associate or diploma degree in nursing or a bachelor's degree in nursing. Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois. This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title. Requires working knowledge of diversified professional nursing principles, concepts and practices. Requires working knowledge of diversified professional nursing principles, concepts, practices and knowledge of application, use and care of specialized medical equipment. Requires knowledge of pharmacology of commonly prescribed medicines and drugs and their therapeutic and possible adverse reactions. Requires ability to provide treatments and nursing care based on orders of physician and to apply emergency medical techniques. Requires ability to instruct non-nursing personnel and to maintain security of work area and comply with all facility rules, regulations, policies and directives. Must be able to clearly communicate verbally and in written form. Requires the ability to perform or deliver mouth to mask CPR and manaul resuscitation.
Employment Conditions
Requires ability to acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
Education Degree
Graduation from an approved nursing program education program resulting in an associate or diploma degree in nursing or a bachelor's degree in nursing.
